Crystal Chakra Wands: What They Are + How to Use Them

Last Updated on

Our energy is sacred and we must work to keep it balanced—which is why you should consider using a crystal chakra wand.

The 7 Chakras are our main energy centers, and when one is out of balance, it can create disruptions in our emotional or spiritual state. To keep our energy in check we can use a crystal chakra wand.

What is a Crystal Chakra Wand?

Our 7 chakra system runs up and down our bodies. They control the way we perceive the world around us, and if not properly taken care of, you might feel physical, emotional, or spiritual discomfort.

A chakra wand is an energy tool to open and unblock our 7 chakras. The wand has 7 different colors, each coordinating with a different chakra. For example, your chakra wand may have Red Jasper for the Root Chakra and Lapis Lazuli for the Throat Chakra.

We use this tool to restore balance and heal the energy centers that may be stuck or overworked. Chakra wands are great because they target specific areas. Oftentimes, we come across only one chakra being out of whack, and the chakra wand can work to heal that one specific energy center.

Benefits of Using a Chakra Wand

There are several benefits to using a chakra wand:

  • A chakra wand works to break through energy blockages by targeting specific chakras to restore the natural energetic flow
  • Builds a stronger connection between the mind, body, and spirit
  • You can combine multiple crystals in a single wand to balance all the chakras
  • They are versatile—if you feel comfortable you can use your chakra wand on multiple people like yourself, your friends, or your family
  • Most chakra wands are easy to transport, so you can always keep it with you in case you need to do an emergency healing session
  • Connecting with your chakras can help you be more self-aware
  • They are a natural way to alleviate stress, anxiety, and tension

Best of all, chakra wands are fairly affordable and accessible to most people.

How to Choose a Crystal Chakra Wand

The most challenging part when it comes to starting out with chakra wands is choosing which one you want. There are an abundance to choose from, and beginners often feel overwhelmed with the selection.

Because your chakra wands is personal to your spiritual practice, it’s important to choose a wand that calls to you on a personal level.

When choosing chakra wands, notice if you feel any particular way when you look or hold each chakra wand that you’re browsing. If a specific one jumps out to you, that’s a good indication that it’s meant for you.

Don’t over think it. Just make a note of what you feel as you browse each wand. If it helps, keep a notepad handy and jot down any feelings. For example, one might make you feel calm while another makes your heart rate increase. Which feeling do you prefer? Go back and choose the wand that elicits the most desirable feelings.

Note: You can also find chakra wands that are only one specific crystal. For these wands, you’d only use it for a specific chakra. We recommend an all-in-one for beginners as they can get a feel for how chakra wands work without having to buy 7 individual ones.

Using Your Chakra Wand on The Seven Chakras

We know that a chakra wand can heal our energy, but what are the different chakras? Each one has its own meaning and “symptoms” that manifest when it is out of balance. Let’s explore what the 7 chakras are so you know how you might use your chakra wand.

Our different chakras

Root Chakra

The Root Chakra, or our foundational/base chakra, is the first in the 7 chakra system. It sits at the base of the spine and is associated with the color red. The Root Chakra can be seen as one of the most important out of all of them because it is what keeps us grounded in the hard times. When it’s out of balance, it can manifest as a lack of motivation, feeling as if you have no purpose, and can create instability in your life.

The Base chakra is what gives us a sense of safety. If you have a strong foundational chakra, it truly sets the tone for all the others. Of course, it can still be overworked or out of balance just as the rest of them, but it’s crucial to heal the energy center when that happens. An overworked Root Chakra can cause the other chakras to fall to the side too.

Sacral Chakra

The second chakra in the system is called the Sacral Chakra and is associated with the color orange. This one is located above the Root Chakra, underneath the navel. The Sacral Chakra is linked to our creative expression, joy, and abundance. The energy of this chakra is more feminine and encourages us to honor our bodies.

When the Sacral Chakra is out of balance it can manifest as addictions, fear of change, and emotional instability. It can even be seen as a link to our inner child. If we suppress our playful or creative nature, it can block the Sacral Chakra. This Chakra is also linked to our sexual desires, and if not properly cared for, can lead to co-dependency issues. Maintaining a balance in the Sacral Chakra is crucial to having healthy friendships and boundaries.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is the third in the main chakra system and sits above the navel. The color associated with this one is yellow, which makes sense because it’s also connected to fire energy. it houses our confidence, self-esteem, and decision-making. This is also where our belief system and personal opinions are formed.

It’s important to maintain a balanced Solar Plexus. If not, it can lead to excessive control, a short temper, and disorganization. Also, our people-leasing tendencies derive from an unbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra. When unbalanced, it can cause us to second-guess our intuition. Healing this Chakra is essential so that we can make confident choices and not allow others to walk all over us.

Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is the next in our energy system. The location of this one may be obvious, but it resides in the heart center or center of the chest. The Heart Chakra is associated with the color green. Next to the Root Chakra, this is another important one to maintain. Each chakra is important in their own way, of course, but the Heart Chakra is in charge of self-love.

Without self-love, we don’t have the ability to see ourselves as beautiful, worthy souls. An unbalanced Heart Chakra leads to isolation, the inability to forgive, jealously, and the victim mentality. Our Heart Chakra is what helps raise our vibrations because love is the highest frequency we can attune ourselves to. It’s essential to care for the heart center to fully enjoy and love life.

Throat Chakra

The next chakra in the system is the Throat Chakra, which is associated with the color blue. It exists in our neck, jaw, and mouth area. The Throat Chakra connects to our communication skills and our ability to speak our truth. Often, when this chakra is imbalanced, we tend to hide our true emotions or opinions when speaking to other people. It can also lead to gossiping, not being able to actively listen, and dismissing others before you get a chance to hear them out.

We use our voices every day, and if you are not using it enough is when the Throat Chakra needs to be cared for. Be authentic and don’t worry so much about what others think of you. When you speak your truth with confidence and listen to others, you will have a strong Throat Chakra.

Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is located on our foreheads in between the eyebrows and is linked to the color Indigo. This chakra is all about our intuition, spiritual awareness, and inner wisdom. When our Third Eye is active and balanced we feel very connected with our spirituality and our intuition is on point.

If your Third Eye is out of balance it can lead to sleepless nights, heightened skepticism, and feeling insignificant or unable to see the bigger picture. Our Third Eye is what helps navigate our spiritual journey. When balanced it can push us to view the challenges in life as lessons. We will see synchronicities and signs from the Universe when we are in touch with the Third Eye Chakra.

Crown Chakra

The last in the 7 chakra system is the Crown Chakra which is linked with the color violet. This is the only chakra in the system to exist outside of the physical body. The Crown Chakra sits above our head and is our connection to source energy. When balanced we have a heightened sense of awareness and can easily tap into universal wisdom. The Crown Chakra is essentially the center of our spirit. Our devotion to the divine and our higher self reside here.

When this Chakra is balanced, some explain it as “spiritual bliss”. We will have fierce clarity and can break out of negative cycles with ease. We feel deeply connected to the divine when the Crown Chakra is balanced. If the Crown Chakra becomes imbalanced it can manifest as feeling disconnected from yourself or being close-minded; you find yourself being cynical against everything you once believed in. We are also prone to isolation when the Crown Chakra is imbalanced.

How to Use a Chakra Wand on Yourself

A chakra wand uses our energy to bring the chakra system back into balance. To fully harness the healing benefits, you must first connect with your chakra wand. You can do this by meditating with it in your hands for a few moments or carry it around while you run errands so that it can connect to your energetic field. Programming your chakra wand with your intention of use is also a way to connect with it.

Once you have bonded with the wand, put yourself into a relaxed state to use it. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You can have the chakra wand in your hand, or you may lay it next to you, whatever is most comfortable for you.

You can also have someone help you use the chakra wand such as a Reiki Healer or friend, but for instructional purposes, we will focus on ourselves only.

After you are relaxed and open to healing, start by focusing on the first energy center, the Root Chakra. Imagine it as a red wheel turning clockwise, not too fast, and not too slow. Focus on that perfect spinning wheel and pick up your chakra wand. As you are imagining the Root Chakra spinning clockwise, place the chakra wand in your hand and hover over the Root Chakra.

While you have the chakra wand hovering over your Root Chakra, begin to move it in the same clockwise position. The energy must flow clockwise. The word chakra translates to “wheel” in Sanskrit, so the wheel must continue turning clockwise or it runs the risk of being stuck or imbalanced.

As you are moving your chakra wand over the energy center, imagine it clearing out any stagnant or stuck energy. Think of it as clearing cobwebs out of the corners of your room. You are simply dusting and cleaning out your Root Chakra energy.

You may also repeat mantras or affirmations during the process, or you can simply focus on the intention of balancing the chakra. Intuitively, you will know what it’s time to move on to the next chakra. Once you feel it’s time to move on to the next chakra, repeat the same process.

Move your chakra wand up to the next energy center, in this case, it would be the Sacral Chakra. Complete the steps mentioned above and move on to the next energy center until you have balanced all 7 chakras. Once you are finished with the healing session, you should feel lighter, happier, and balanced.

You can repeat this process as much as you would like. You can make it an annual thing, or do it on a monthly basis, it truly is personal to you. If you feel as if only one or two chakras need to be worked on, then only focus on balancing those that call to you.
